1. Introduction
How will we decarbonise as a nation? Harnessing a combination of technology, society and policy that drive new and existing solutions.
‘Decarbonisation futures’ explores how Australia can limit global warming through technological, social and policy drivers. Recent years have seen significant technological changes that have greatly improved the prospects for decarbonising Australia’s economy. However, these innovations aren’t currently considered in policy and planning. Exploring them allows us to better reflect what the world could look like, plan accordingly and capitalise on opportunities. With appropriate policy and societal support, new and emerging technologies can both cut emissions and grow Australia’s economy into the future.
